The Top of the South Romance Writers have had an industrious year with multiple book releases. Some of us were crazy enough to commit to #NaNoWriMo (write 50,000 words within the month of November).

Born in England, Jean Gorman had a far from ill-spent youth, wandering Europe. She later made a home in an old Welsh village with an unpronounceable name and revelled in the history and castles of the country. She shifted to New Zealand and became a teacher and the editor of a small town journal. A graduate of London, Surrey and Massey Universities, she now writes full time from home in an olive grove in Nelson. Her novels are epic adventures set in King Richard the Lionheart's reign. The history and medieval settings are well-researched, the stories tense and romantic with a twist of humour.

Walking on Ice is my story about finding true love in the frozen wilds of Alaska and my journey into a new world, that of the Yup'ik and Cup'ik Eskimo people.
 | I have taught in New Zealand, Australia, England and the U.S. I was previously married to an African American musician, and attended the Grammy Awards and toured clubs in LA, London and the South of France. My way of life changed completely when, divorced and in my late forties, I fell in love with the principal of an Inupiaq school in the Arctic Circle, Alaska. We married, and I spent the next six years working together in the icy wilderness of bush Alaska. We now live among orchards and vineyards just outside Nelson, in Tasman where the winters are mild and the summers are long. I decided to leave my teaching career at the end of 2013, and now spend my time writing and giving talks about my experiences. It has been through giving these talks that my first book “Walking on Ice” was eventually written at audience request. I have since completed a sequel “Nesting on the Nushagak,” and have plans to write at least one more book in this series. |

Sue has travelled the world and spent two years living in Kuwait before the troubles started. Soon after returning to Britain the family emigrated to New Zealand. Romance, fantasy romance for adults and young adults, and fantasy for nine to twelve year olds are Sue's writing areas and since her first novel was published in 2007 she has had over fifteen books published, both in ebook and print. Sue has recently changed to self-publishing her books for younger readers. Now based in Richmond, Sue hopes to expand her writing to an epic fantasy novel set in an alternate world.

She finishes the journey on foot but is captured by Brenauf, an old adversary of Sard's. Miserable, pregnant and frightened for her baby's welfare, Lise can see no way out of her Breanauf's clutches. Sard joins with the Eos to attempt to save his beloved. Failure to rescue Lise and also find the true heir could mean disaster for Rak and the whole planet of Hejmen.
